Hey, as a sophomore transfer student (I got accepted!), where would be the best place to try and live? Obviously, I want to make it as easy as possible to meet people, so if anyone has any suggestions on what to put down as preferences on the housing request form, I would be so appreciative!

There is a transfer floor at Granville Towers, but nobody has really said anything about whether that would be a good route or not. Is it hard for transfers to get into University housing since we are supposedly last in line for a room? Thanks for any help.

Also, are transfers guarenteed housing? I thought I read something that said that we were, but that seems highly doubtful that every single transfer would get a room on campus...

Many transfer student end up living off campus by choice. UNC is pretty sure than anyone that applies for housing before the deadline will be able to have on campus housing. With the opening of Ram Village for upperclassmen, several dorm rooms have opened up. If you want on campus housing I would suggest you go ahead and fill out the online application.

hey u wanna room with me? im looking to get an apartment at granville towers. im me, my sn is posham (aim)

My mom and I have also been wondering this (I, too, am a sophomore transfer) so we called UNC's housing office a couple of days ago. We were both told that transfers were likely to be placed in Odum Village for sophomores, and Ram Village for juniors.

I haven't heard much about Granville Towers, though I checked out the website. I don't particularly care where I end up, as long as I'm with a bunch of other sophomores (especially transfers).

Sophomores can live in Ram Village, but you need to apply. Ram Village has a separate application and the cost is higher than the other on campus dorms. It is my understanding that there are still rooms available.

I have now found out that UNC did changed the housing as of yesterday for transfers-lbd139 is correct that juniors will be in Ram Village and sophomores in Odom Village. I guess Granville will get more transfer students now!

Pokey, when you say that you think Granville will get more transfers, do you think that it is a better choice than Odum?

I have not personally seen Odum Village, but the location is a bit isolated. If I were a student, I would live in Granville. I know Granville is not the first choice for many, but with the availability of the transfer floors, I think this would be a good choice. Do understand I am thinking about how UNC housing was 30 years ago, but to me Odum isn't where I would want to live.

I do believe in the past many transfer students liked to be in Granville because they were not giving on campus housing.
