Tranfer to a Top College

I slacked off in my freshman and sophomore year in high school (Bs and Cs) but really picked my self up in junior and senior year (As and Bs).

If I do well in college (4.0 GPA, strong rec letters, heavy involvement, etc.), will my H.S. record hold me back from attending a top university/college? Possibly an ivy league?

First, what year of college do you intend on transferring into? Sophomore? Junior? Which year you intend on transferring really decides how much a top university focuses on your HS record. If you want to transfer as a sophomore, they will look more at your HS grades, but if you transfer later, your HS record matters less.
Anyways, an upward trend is good. What were your test scores? Most ivies and top tier colleges are going to want you to submit your SAT/ACT scores. Some colleges allow you to submit post-HS scores, but other will only want scores from HS sitings. For specifics, definitely check out the transfer process for each school you’re interested in.

Also, essays, ECs, teachers recs, and other personal statements sometimes do make the difference between a rejection and acceptance so make sure to get involved and know your professors.

However, since you haven’t started college yet and you don’t have any college coursework or college GPA, I can’t realistically guess your chances. Just do as well as you can your first year(s) in college and see what happens.
