Tranfer with Need-- Is there a point in applying?

Hey guys I have a huge question for you all.

I’m a freshman at UMiami and I’m really not happy with the social life here. Barnard was one of my top choices but I never applied after getting rejected to my EA.

I was thinking of applying to Barnard, but I know Barnard is need-aware for transfer students. I’m not low-income, but I’m definitely middle class and cannot pay much more than 15k for tuition, and that’s with loans. Is there even a point to send in my application?

I’m a good student, my college GPA is roughly 3.95, my highschool GPA was a 3.5 but took 15 APs and a few Dual Enrollment courses with a 33 ACT. I was an A/B student in high school just bombed one semester class of Differential Equations at the end of senior year. Extracurriculars in high school, only a few in college so far. I would be applying in Statistics. FL student.

I’d really appreciate your feedback, especially if anyone knows how need is considered in the transfer process at Barnard

Yes, it is worth applying. While Barnard is “need aware” for transfer students, it does admit a substantial number and meets the full need of all those admitted. So you really have nothing to lose in applying.

One thing to note: your “stats” are very good but Barnard practices holistic admissions. High states won’t win your admission. Ensure you highlight what makes you unique, why Barnard is uniquely suited to your aspirations, and what you would add to the college.

What a small world! I’m a UMiami freshman from Florida thinking about transferring to Barnard too because of the social life lol.
I’d recommend filling out your FAFSA now and inputting your EFC into the Barnard Net Price Calculator. That way you can have some idea of the financial ramifications before you apply.
Good luck!
