Transcript says 0 hours of community service

I live in FL, so our community service hours are reported on our transcript because that indicates whether we will qualify for Bright Futures. I never reported my hours to guidance, so my transcript says I have 0 hours.

I’ll get Bright Futures anyways as long as I get my IB diploma, so that’s not what I’m worried about. I have to get a certain amount of community service for IB, and I have those documented. My application also talks about my extracurriculars, which include community service, and at least one of my teacher recommendations talks about them as well. Will this affect my chances of admission to colleges in general? I explained all of this in the additional information section of my app.

Your file readers are logical people. Maybe they will note the discrepancy or not. Regardless, they’ll quickly understand it to be a clerical error.

BTW: no school requires community service hours you know. Zero. Nada. It’s a hyped myth held sacrosanct by HS students. It’s false.

It’s perfectly fine that you’ve done it – but it’s not necessary nor makes you unique.

Why not just email the GC about the documented service you did for the IB? Although I agree that the readers of your file might recognize this as a mistake.
