Transcript to GPA Conversion

Prior to reading this thread, I assume you guys are aware of the fact that international students do not need to submit GPA. Most universities indicate that your transcript itself is enough.

I studied and currently study the UK Cambridge O-Levels & A-Levels.

My transcript is pretty bad: A lot of Bs are present and not that many As. However for my final exam regulated by Cambridge, I passed with flying colours (5 A*,3A) at O-Levels, showing the rigor of my school's curriculum.

My question is : How can I compare my results with all the GPAs posted around this forum? Thanks

only if you don’t have GPA. post in the international forum. there is lot of people there.

Since you know that you don’t need to submit a GPA, why do you care?

You’re not competing against US students, you’ll be competing against other internationals, especially internationals from your own country. You should try and compare your marks to theirs or at least to other people doing the Cambridge O and A level system. That being said, US unis tend to like to see improvement so they may be willing to overlook your subpar earlier marks.

drexter> Hi the international forum is really confusing. Some say since A-Levels are basically APs, so up to a B is a 4.0 as it is one of the toughest syllabus. Everyone has his own version of conversion so I don’t really have an idea what to believe and what not to believe.

ucamstudent > I care because I wish to compare mine with US Students. I know I will be mostly competing with other intls but they have their GPA. There will only be around 10 students from my country (Really small and remote country) applying to the same college as mine so I believe I should compare my GPA against other intls, not those from my country.

More than that it would be make more sense to compare your stats with the freshman profile of each of the colleges that you are interested in applying to.
