DD has been trying to submit her application since Aug 1. They’ve received the application, fee, transcript, test scores, essay, resume and whatever else it asks for. Her application status still says incomplete, and when she inquired about it, she was told that because she is in top 7%, her transcript must state that’s she’ll graduate under the Foundation plan with endorsements plus a Distinguished level of achievement. She either has to resubmit a transcript that says this, or have her counselor send a letter stating this. They said they’d prefer the letter. Has anyone else encountered this? Did we miss something where it states that transcripts must have this designation for top 7%? It’s been so difficult getting someone to answer questions. Thanks in advance.
It is a requirement. It is not specifically stated on UT’s website but UT does include a link when it talks about the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the fact that they establish the rules for automatic admission. http://texreg.sos.state.tx.us/public/readtac$ext.TacPage?sl=R&app=9&p_dir=&p_rloc=&p_tloc=&p_ploc=&pg=1&p_tac=&ti=19&pt=1&ch=5&rl=5
It is an “or” situation. Have a Distinguished level or satisfy ACT College Readiness Benchmarks or specific scores on SAT assessment.
Thanks, I found it after I made the post. She’ll be contacting her counselor tomorrow.
My son had the same problem. He too in top 7%.
To get distinguished level you have to take four classes of English, which is typically met after the senior year. Can you claim distinguished if they have not yet met the requirement?
Our district lists it as “pursuing distinguished level of achievement”
