Transcript

I am curious about this.
I received my candidate confirmation letter awhile back.
In the letter, it states:
“As soon as I receive your sixth semester High School transcript and undated SAT or ACT scores, I will re-evaluate your fie this summer for further consideration in the admissions process. Upon favorable evaluation, I will send you a candidate kit in August.”

I do not understand where I am supposed to send my transcript.
They haven’t sent me any other letters requesting this information.

I just don’t know what I need to do and the timeline of these tasks.

Suggestions:

1) Ask your high school counselor who may know exactly what to do.
2) Call or e-mail admissions and ask them for the exact address. Then give your counselor the request with address.

Good luck.

The address for USMA admissions should be on the letter that they sent you. In addition, it is on the website http://admissions.usma.edu/

USMA Admissions, Building 606, West Point, New York 10996
(845) 938-4041

Ask your guidance counselor to send a copy of your transcript to the above address. Make sure it contains your SAT/ACT scores and your class rank, (and candidate number if possible).

I would do this as soon as you can. It is normally a good sign when they ask for your transcript :)

Good luck!

Yeah, I actually would never have known to do this if I did not go visit West Point. There I found out I was supposed to send them official transcript and SAT scores to my Regional Admissions guy (In my case, Major Michael McBride).
Also, I'm not sure about this, but you may have to ask collegeboard to send your scores to West Point. They might not accept just having them on your transcript. I know some places don't, WP may be one of them.

I'm really glad I found out about this though, because based solely on my transcript and SATs I got an LOA in July. So definitely get it done as soon as you can.
I feel like there's something else I wanted to say, but I forget now...

Yes, candidates will also need to have official SAT/ACT scores sent to admissions. When candidates sign up to take the exams they should make sure that scores are sent to USMA admissions and also Congressional nomination sources.

Damn, are you sure that transcripts are needed for the Application packet? I called my school and their policy is that no transcripts are sent out/given to anyone until October. So I have to wait about 2 months until it could be sent. Are you sure SAT scores aren't good enough?

Transcripts are not needed to open a candidate file, and usualy candidates wait until after the second step kit is mailed (early Septemeber) to mail in transcripts. Candidates are not penalised if they don't send them in earlier, but it is to their advantage to do so if requested by admissions. If you have a letter from admissions requesting a transcript, forward a copy of the letter to your guidance counselor - your school may make an exception to their policy if they have a specific request from admsiions.

Last year after my daughter open her file she got a letter with her sign on and password - it arrived in June - I think.

Had the exact same wording as the letter Quiet Hawkeye got. She had her guidance office send in the transcripts in right away.

Candidates: Read all of your mail carefully - applying to and SA is a huge lesson on following directions.
If the letter you received tells you to send in transcripts then do it.

I find it hard to believe a school will not send out your transcripts. If that is what they are telling you then go to the administration with your letter - or get one of your parents involved. Your high school is working for you. Remember that.

In evaluating you they not only want to see your SAT scores but your course load.
