I just transferred from my local CC to a State university. Like many CC students, I have been been employed full-time, and taking classes part-time. Now that I have been accepted to a university, will I be expected to shift to full-time student and part-time employee? I stretched out my AA over the space of 5 years. Is my university going to allow me to take classes when I can, because having just come back from orientation, I get the impression they want me to graduate ASAP. For me, getting the bachelors degree ASAP is not a priority.

lol

After looking into it, I’ve discovered that I cannot get credit for courses unless I take at least 12 credits per semester. So in short, I have to choose to stop working full time or not get my BA. Why is it that community colleges can figure out how to accomodate people with jobs, but for universities this is apparently an impossible request?

So to get a BA, if you already have a job, you have to be rich enough to cut your hours to part-time. I believe I smell the stench of class discrimination … and it’s directly up my nostrils and other orifices.
