It’s official. I was accepted today via BU Applicant Link. 3.5 GPA, 102 Units, from a 4 year in CA, 1200 SAT. I am stoked that I can finally stop worrying about getting in.

Now, I have applied to a couple other schools, Boston College included, and now I am curious to find out more about BU.

I am a Management major, how is BU compared to BC’s Carroll School.

Other than hockey, what can I expect for the sports scene?

Socially, are frats/sororities popular, is the location of BU more appealing than BC?

Anything else I may need to know about BU, or about BC, that will make my decision easier.

Hey, when did you get your decision? Mine hasn't changed yet... crosses fingers that it will soon

Sounds like I'm in a similar position to you--trying to determine whether to go w/ SMG at BU or Carroll at BC. I'm leaning strongly towards BU at the moment. (I was accepted last year into SMG, but turned it down because of a financial package that I couldn't refuse at Suffolk. It's a long story... but now I'm pretty sure that SMG would have been the better choice.)

Anyway, I currently have a 4.0 at Suffolk at the end of my freshman year, and had a 2190 on my SATs (1450 by the old system).

With regard to the comparison, SMG and Carroll are roughly the same size (SMG is actually smaller by about 200 students), though BC as a whole is a smaller school. They're both well ranked, though BC ranks higher in Business Week and US News & World Report. However, rankings only count for so much, and I'd say that the difference is probably negligible when push comes to shove.

BC's alumni network is next to none. Carroll grads are common in the Boston area, and they generally bend over backwards to help their own. I can't say much for BU's networking potential, but Builders & Leaders, the SMG magazine, chronicles a whole bunch of alumni that have reached the upper echelon of industry, so I think you'd be perfectly fine coming out of BU as well.

When push comes to shove, I'd say that you have to pick the one that feels best for you, since they're both very good schools--but they are also very different schools. Walking the campuses and getting a feel for the school and the students helps a lot. Maybe current students will have some more input?

Go to where the financial aid is. Graduating from BC or BU in business is not going to create that much of a different; unless you really want to work in Boston, then BC might win out by default because of its alumni network. Degree from either schools will bring you far.

@Aztec: Ok, if you didn't apply for financial aid, that might explain why you heard before others. So I guess skinnyfists and I can calm down, lol. (Assuming, of course, skinnyfists applied for financial aid.)

But yeah, definitely come to Boston and check them both out. Boston is a great city, and there's always plenty of stuff to do. Plus, you'll get a feel for whether you'd rather be in the city (BU), or on the outskirts with relatively easy access to the city (BC).

Neither has mine. People started being notified as early as Tuesday so I called to find out. BU said they will be posting decisions sporatically in between now and the beginning of June and that we shouldn't worry if ours is posted later. Hope it is sooner than later. The wait is killing me. Can't wait to get back to BU (fingers crossed real real tight!) But yeah, Merev, when did you find out? Just now? Because the applicant link is down for awhile tonight.

I got an email yesterday afternoon informing me that my decision was available, and yes, the link was down for a few hours so I couldn't check it at first. (argh!) After a few hours, though, I was able to access the decision.

If you're into bigtime sports, BC is the major college power around here, except in hockey where BU-BC is a major rivalry. The Greek scene at BU is fairly small. I don't know about BC.

Does anybody know if any decisions will be made available over the weekend? Or will the next round start on Monday during business hours? I'm not sure how it works. I'd like to know because I am dying anxious and I have finals to study for.

Devilsrule, I can second that! Thankfully, I'm already done with finals, but I'm still terribly anxious to find out if I'm in or not. Really, it would be nice to know where I'm going next year. I think the transfer process is at least twice as stressful as the freshman application process was!

Best of luck to you, and to everyone else who's still waiting! I have a feeling we'll probably have to wait until at least Monday though...

Guess no one else has heard anything in the past 2 days? I know I haven't. Was so ready for it today. Took my finals at Johnson & Wales completely decked out in my BU gear for good luck. Everyone who knows I'm trying to transfer thought I got in. And I had to answer, "Um, nope. Not yet. Fooled you though, didn't I?"

Nice and early. I submitted it in the second week of March, three weeks before the deadline. And all my credentials were submitted even earlier.
