Wally_N,
No hard feeling taken
I’m really sorry to hear you go waitlisted the 3rd time around, i really hope you get in!!! Your more than qualified for me. Starting Monday i will do whatever it takes to get off the waitlist and be accepted! Persistence is the key here, hopefully my spring grades will make them change their mind and maybe showing them a lot of interest will help a lot too. I am going to write a letter of intent to one of the UVA Deans of Admissions for the School of Nursing (whom i already know in person) and maybe get one more extra recommendation from a former UVA nursing school student and send it to UVA Admissions.
Like i said, i’m gonna do whatever it takes to get me off that waitlist. You could say I’m a bit ambitious, but i need this offer, i need it not only because i want it but because i know its where i know i can succeed in future medical career and further on (Law School:-))

I wish you the best Wally_N, and don’t let that waitlist boggle your mind, it doesn’t justify you as a person in any way, UVA just happened to have a lot of qualified applicants they could not make an offer right away, so they wanna see some more improvement in your work just incase your previous work was not a fluke, not that i’m saying they were…i’m sure your a hard working student.

GOOD LUCK!!! and KEEP PRAYING I GET ACCEPTED OFF THE WAITLIST!!! :-)

UVA happens to have a lot of qualified applicants, category in which you do not fall. I would be quite dissapointed if they admit you, as your grades are not “UVA worthy” and you’d probably do badly in your classes.

Wally, just do the guaranteed admission deal. Seems like you’d have no problem satisfying the requirements to get in…

Who knows wahoomb, I could do badly I could succeed. But God knows what he has planned for me. This yr was extremely competitive, and I’m grateful to have been waitlisted, as I’ve seen kids with higher scores than me gotten rejected.
I think you base admissions solely on grades wahoomb, I know one of my friends who got into UVA with a 3.0 in high school, a 1010 SAT, and mediocre HS grades. This other kid he knew got rejected from UVA with a 4.2 GPA!! 2300 SAT score and was in the NHS too. Just goes to show grades are only a part of the admissions decisions.

Thanks for being an optimist though hence the sarcasm:)
Good luck everyone!!!

PS. kinda funny to judge someones abilites over some very little information and not knowing me. Obviously admissions thinks I have something to give to UVA, or they probably would have not even thought about waitlisting me but reject me right away. Just a thought.

UVAfan, don’t pay attention to wahoomb. He is notorious on this board for being a blowhard. You have the right attitude. Let sudstar be your inspiration. UVA needs more people like him and fewer like wahoomb.

Notorious to not sugarcoat things, yes.

guillame,
Thank you so much for your support, really means a lot to me
Sudstar really inspired me actually. Everyoe is being very supportive of my decision and ambition to attend to UVA, even my family…who is majorily a W&M family. I’m the black sheep who just happens to want to go to UVA instead haha.
Again, thank you!

PS. Even if UVA is not an option for me this year, it’s not the end of the world! This is only my first time applying…But i will go there very soon and offer a lot to the University before I walk the lawn :)

Wahoomb, you would be taken more seriously if your insults included correct spelling and grammar.

UVAFan23, not sure if you’ve realized this, but I’m your friend from the blog. You already know my feelings on this matter, but I want to tell you again that I think you can do it!

Thank you so very much UVAhopeful!
That really means a lot to me. I have already begun my methods of trying to get off the waitlist
I sure hope you get in too!! Or have you been accepted already?

No, I haven’t yet. Hmm, since you asked if I have, I’m not sure you know who I am. Teapot. Best of luck!

Ohhh okay! Now I remember you!! Your on my facebook too, Hahahai feel dumb now lmao.
But yeah thanks! Everyone is being sooo supportive, aside from this guy/girl up here LOL.

It’s not about being supportive or not, it’s about being realistic. Again, good luck, I doubt you’ll get off the waitlist this year, but who knows, as you have said, if UVA admitted someone you know with a 3.0 and such a low SAT score they might just admit you. I hope you realize that they’re not doing the person you know a favor, they’re just setting him to fail and to fail pretty badly. That’s simply my opinion based on what I saw when I went to UVA. You don’t have to agree with me and that’s fine.

UVAfan: I’m not insulting anybody, I’m simply stating my opinion. I’m sorry you got waitlisted as well, it must be hard, but you’ll get through it, good luck!

Wally, who was not very creative with his username, seems to have hit a few wrong keys in his post. Don’t let his “stats” affect you.

Hang in there, Hopeful and Fan.

Thank you ever so much Wahoomb and Dean J!
I am just very greatful I got waitlisted as seeing that this years tranfers were very competitive, or so I’ve heard.
I honestly think January term is my best option at this moment anyways.
One things for sure is that I am NOT giving up on UVA.

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU HOPEFUL AND EVERYONE ELSE!!! :)

Thanks, Dean J and Wahoomb! I’m doing what I can to get off the list. :)

And best of luck to everyone waiting to hear as well!

I got accepted to UVa as transfer from the waitlist …XD

im going to be honest, as far as grades go, mind wasn’t great but wasn’t bad either… if we were to look soley on grades I feel like there are more than half the people that got waitlisted deserves this admission spot over me. AGAIN this show that school looks beyond grades. Grades may be a large part of admission but it doesn’t determind anything. Colleges look for more than grades…

It also doesn’t matter how good your essay is… anyone can write a good essay… instead they look for creativity or something that makes you stand out from the rest. Again this takes a large role in admission but it doesn’t determind anything.

for example: for me on one of the essay that you have to write “why you want to come to Uva”, i didn’t sit there a suck up to the admissions people, i wrote about my plan, about my future and how Uva can help me pursue that goal… Im a business major and i wrote about why i chose this field and what are my strengths in this category… I may not be the smartest kid to attend UVa, but i think my essay did it for me. I guess the school feels that my strength in business is something worth their time and efforts as they may see it as a potential in me… I don’t know i’m just saying…

so people stop worrying too much on academic records… so what if you got an A in history when your a chem major… instead i recommend showing your strong points in your field and show the school how you can use that strength towards your success with the aid of the school.

how many cases do you know that he/she had better grades than me but they didn’t get in and you did or vise-versa… maybe they saw something in the person with the lower grades…

These are my opinion and if i’m wrong in facts, sorry but all i’m trying to say is don’t stress on it too much, because if the school sees potential in you they will accept you…you just got to try to show what you’ve got…

good luck to anyone that got waitlisted, and don’t lose hope, because i never did!

I got accepted off the waitlist as well. I’m rooting for you still, UVAfan! Good luck!

Wahoo Wa!! Yeah for you UVAhopeful08!!! I admire how you always kept your spirits up and never gave up! Thanks for letting us know you got off the waitlist>>see you on the Corner someday, I’ll be the “girl-in-pearls” wearing the orange and navy sun dress ;)

Thanks, Powderpuff! I’ll be on the lookout. Haha, and now I want to buy an orange and navy sundress…I already bought heels of that color. Not the prettiest shoes ever, but they were nine dollars. I couldn’t resist. :)

Welcome to UVA If you have any transfer-life questions, ask away or PM me.

PS- I have blue and orange undies from VS I try to slyly exclaim that I’m wearing them at every chance I can hahah I won’t go as far as the dress, but I do have a white dress that I found a blue/orange ribbon belt to go with. I kind of like blue and orange together frankly, and nothing beats wearing jeans with a white Virginia shirt. I just feel so…college-y and American ahahahah
