i have been looking into nyu for some time now, preferably as a transfer student. i am a current community college student, going in as a freshman. i have been researching for a while now, and i’ve read that nyu doesn’t require act/sat scores for transfer students, but i’m not so sure if this is true or not. in high school i took honors/ap upper level classes and had a 3.72 unweighted gpa, and 4.0 weighted. my act didn’t look great (about 70th percentile nationally). i’ve done plenty of community service, but don’t really have any ECs. do i have any chance of getting in if i get/maintain a good gpa my first two years of college before i decide to apply as a transfer student?
So I transferred into NYU pretty recently (Fall 2019 transfer) and I can confirm that NYU does not require you to send in your SAT/ACT. However, this only applies if you’ve taken a certain amount of credits in college (check the website again it should say it somewhere or call the admissions office, they’re always helpful.).
NYU also has a very good track record of accepting transfer students, with the exception of Stern which tends to prefer internal transfers. So if you maintain a GPA of at least 3.3+ you should be fine to transfer into the school of your choosing. Just be aware that you should try to put in a good amount of effort into your supplements of course. Remember that a good supplement will boost an average application to above average while a terrible supplement will knock you down to average.
