Hi!
To all those who have transferred before, or who have any insight on this…how do you decide where to go to school when all of the Admissions Decisions release dates and deposit dates are staggered?? For example, I am applying to UConn, and their transfer deposit is due two weeks after an admissions decision. How am I supposed to make an informed new college decision if I haven’t heard back from other schools at that time? All of my colleges are staggered like this…some you don’t hear back from until middle of May, and some have a deposit due May 1st.
This is making me just as stressed as sending in my applications did!
Any help is appreciated ~
Thank you!
There is sometimes a correlation between when you applied and when you get a response back, especially if you are talking about schools who release transfer decisions on a daily basis.
If you sent in your application and other required materials fairly quickly after the app opened, you will hear a decision back sooner. Conversely, the longer it takes you to send all your materials in, the longer it takes to get a response.
Most of the upper tier schools are pretty good at getting decisions out by May 1st. If you applied for Fall transfer, it’s only the beginning of March. You still have a little under 2 months before you need to start worrying.
I think you may have misunderstood the question being asked, camover.
I’ve read previous threads that deal with this, and what many suggested is you call the other schools you applied to, telling them that you were admitted to UConn and need to reply by May 1st, and so would like an earlier decision. Or you can ask UConn for an extension on their reply date, letting them know you’re waiting for other schools. If they aren’t receptive to either of those, it does seem like double depositing when waiting for another offer is OK for transfer admissions, but you will forfeit your enrollment fee and you must formally withdraw from the university you decide to forgo
