I was wondering if anyone could possibly shed some light on this problem: I have applied to three colleges for transfer for Fall 2010 (Georgetown, GWU, and UPenn), but the dates for when they release transfer decisions are so far apart that I'm not sure if I will know all three decisions before I have to choose a college.

In my case, GWU and UPenn have said that they release decisions sometime in mid-May. But Georegetown has said that it won't mail its decisions until June 1.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Will colleges release decisions early if you call them, or will they extend the deadline to reply to a decision?

Usually if you need to commit to a school by a date that comes before the decision date of another school you are waiting to hear back from, you can contact that school your still waiting from via a written request letting them know of your situation. From this a school will usually look at your application early then and give you a decision before your commit date of the other school. I know that most schools require you at least let them know two weeks before the commit date so they have enough time.

if they dont tell you your status and if you have $, you could always pay multiple enrollment deposits and secure a spot at more than one school

DABEARS34, double depositing is a BAD idea. If any of the admissions officers find out (and they can check up on it), they can rescind your admission. I suggest depositing at one school if you don’t have one of your decisions yet, and you will just lose the money (most likely) if you decide to attend somewhere else. First, ask someone if they can extend the deposit deadline. Sometimes they will make exceptions for students in your situation.
