Transfer Admissions: Q's & Tufts' Stats

I'm looking for some information about Tufts Transfer admissions...

I was wondering how much one's declaration of major makes in the process? Also, is it more competitive to apply to well-known majors like IR (even though the process for any current Tufts student would just be filling out forms)?

Finally, I was wondering if anyone had the Transfer statistics- # applied/accepted.

Thanks!

From the Tufts Admissions website:

"Transfer admissions to Tufts is highly competitive. In the last few years, the acceptance rate for transfer students has dropped to 10% and below"

I think lastyear it was 8%.

lolabelle, from your experience working with the Tufts Admissions Office, is acceptance dependent on your major?

I'm a Tufts alum, not an admissions officer! :)

Either way, taking from my experience reading these boards and in college admissions in general, I think that you shouldn't try to tweak your academic interests in order to try to up your chances of getting in. If you want to major in a department that's very popular on campus, say so. If you show genuine interest that's better than showing less excited interest in a less popular department. My two cents!

thanks for the response. i knew you were an alum, but i thought you (had?) worked with the admissions office. thanks anyways though.
