Transfer admissions revoked?

I dunno if anyone here can help me with this, but I just got admitted as a Poli Sci transfer student from a CCC. This being my last semester at cc, I decided to take a JAVA programming class to see if I would like it and be interested in changing my major. Well, the combination of having to go back to work, and the fact that the class was an online class(making learning much more difficult) I have managed to put myself in a position where its too late to drop with a W and my current grade in the class is a D. This is not going to affect my IGETC or my pre-reqs, so I dont think it should be TOO big of a deal, but Im still worried. Anyone think my admissions will still stand?

as long as its not igetc or pre-reqs i think you'll be fine, but i'd check with a counselor.

yeah Im gonna call the admissions counselor at UCLA and explain my situation tomorrow.

any advice on things I should say when I call tomorrow, to possibly help my chances? :D

Hey im in the same situation. What did they tell you b/c i got 2 completely different responses.

the counselors my CC and the one I called at UCLA today both told me that it shouldnt matter. the UCLA one said that "hypothetically i should be fine", but they wanted me to fill out the grade problem form even though i havent received the grade yet.

i guess i'll know in 15 days :(

Really???

They told me to wait for the final grade.

Maybe i should fill it out now.

This whole thing got a nigga stressed.

is it a pre-req or a IGETC requirement?
cause mine isnt, so maybe that has something to do with it?

i dunno, now im worried, cause i didnt put any of my other grades in since i dont have them, so they will see a bunch of blanks and a D.

Its not a pre-req or a IEGTC. I just needed an extra class to reach 60 units.

What they told me the first time i called is that getting a D does not count for credit and because i need it for the 60 units i would become inelgible.

The 2nd lady told me the opposite and that credit from an AP test i took would be counted as back-up. She said she verified this with an evaluator.

I dont know who to believe, or what to do. I really wasnt planning on getting in.
Im OOS, 3.35 applied to english, no pre-reqs completed.
But i am afr amer. and i did write about my potential to contribute to the campus (thank goodness for Holistic review!).

woah. i have the same gpa as you, and the same number of units. I also will have 59 because of this class, but like you, have an AP test that they can/will use. and im iranian, and wrote that in my essays hahaha.

hopefully this doesnt hurt us, ill update with any new info i get.

Nice to have someone else in my situation with similar stats. My class in question is a 3 unit class bringing my total to 58, with the AP test i have 60+.

My main concern is that i keep 60 units. Do you know if getting a D in a class no longer counts for credit? (the first person said no and my acceptance 'will be revoked', the 2nd told me it does and 'not to worry about it')

Anyways I hope we both come out ahead.

i think it still counts for credit, because we still get points for the GPA scale, or at least I do at my school.

Any updates?

I called back friday to get more info and was told when they re-review your low grades it is done in the context of your past grades, how competitive your major is, and whether the class is a pre-req or IEGTC.

Anyone else have any knowledge/ experience of the UCLA transfer provisional contract?

nope, still havent heard back anything. although what they told you is pretty reassuring for us both, i think.

they updated my provisional contract on the admissions page.

it says i have to get a 3.2 in my remaining courses....seems easy, but I might get screwed and get straight B's, which means.........:(

wow i didnt know they ask for a certain GPA after that.

I wonder if they really revoke your admission if you get a 3.0.

Also are you still submitting you SIR?

yeah i submitted it.

id be getting straight B's plus that one class I got a D in. although that D could still turn into a C, if im lucky. and one of those B's could turn into an A.

but its like a 1% chance at this point, im freaking out and dont know what to do

So you would rather just take the chance than go to another UC?

What if UCLA doesnt work out, back to your previous school?

Im considering just going the safe route and submitting UCSB.

no, i want to go to ucla, i already submitted my SIR and my housing deposit.

at this point im just going to do my best, and ask my professors if theres anything i can do to get an A in one of their classes.
