I have a slight problem, I'm about to be academically dismissed from my university. I have done really well, but for some odd reason I have had a bad Fall and Spring Semester. This is not normal of me.

I was wondering, is is still possible to transfer to another university? Does going to CC help. I was told by my university that the credits earned at CC won't transfer.

Is there another university that will admit me, because of a bad year?

I am at a loss of what my options are, so any suggestion is a good thing.

I’m confused. You say you have done really well but had 2 bad semesters. What is your GPA, do you have D’s or F’s, what is your major, and what year are you. Also, why wouldn’t cc credits transfer?

I do apologize for not being clear. I am totally stressed out.

Fall 09 semester, my GPA fell below a 2.0 which then pushed my overall below a 2.0. I appealed and was allowed to stay in for the Spring 10 semester. The grades are coming in and I am worried that I won’t get a 2.0 which is required for me to stay enrolled.

My GPA right now, overall is a 1.579, the semester GPA (fall 09) was less than that. I am in the processes right now trying to get my grades from the Fall 09 changed from failing to withdraw. In which case, my GPA will rebound and I will be taken off probation. (That has yet to happen).

As for CC, I was told by admissions that if I attend another college, the credits won’t transfer.

I had a few family problems, the biggest being my dad found out that he has cancer, so that took a huge toll. I understand that I should have maybe sat out this semester, but hindsight is 20/20. You must live with the choices that you make in life. I just don’t want my choices to destroy my life.

My major is Anthropology, and I attend school in Kentucky.

I’m in the same boat. After 2 years at a state school, ended up with a 2.2. I’m trying to transfer for personal reasons as well but don’t know if its worth transferring down to such a low ranked school, or doing cc for a year and get my gpa up.

As for now though I’d say just apply to schools you think you could get into and write a sick essay.

I think that I have found light at the end of my tunnel. I am only 12 credit hours shy of a A.A transfer degree with my local CC. I am going to go their, grab my A.A then transfer, I figure that I’ll bring up my GPA and walk away with some type of degree.

Sl5455, don’t give up hope. I just happen to screw up. There is hope. Sometimes it takes transferring to bring the GPA back up.

My god, are you my long lost twin or something? xD I got really sick not once, but twice last year, and that combined with some family issues and other personal matters impacted my GPA horribly, and I was put on Academic Suspension from my high-ranking private university. I was also told that any CC credits wouldn’t transfer back to my school. However, because of previous courses I had taken my senior year in HS, I was able to take enough courses at CC this year to graduate with my Associate’s in CS. I even managed to do it without tranferring any courses from my old school, so my GPA is sitting nicely at 3.83

I’m now waiting to hear from tranfer schools. I’ve already gotten into SUNY Geneseo and Northeastern, but I’m anxious to hear from the rest!

Best of luck to you as well, I’m sure you’ll do great wherever you go next. :)

CC is a good idea! I’m doing the same thing, although I didn’t even have the personal issues to excuse my poor grades. Now I’m getting my AA in December with a 3.9 and transferring from there :)

hi i was just Dismissed from citytech.for not passing my math Elem class and now i’m trying to transfer to a 2 year college.what are my chance to get in to a two year school after just being dismissed.and i do not want to take a semester.please help me out

So, I got dismissed from a CC. I had some family stuff to deal with and it took a toll on my grades, will that affect my ability to transfer to a 4 year university? I plan to take a semester off because its too late to get classes at another CC in another district. But I plan to enroll at a another CC for next semester and get good grades. HELP! I’m so lost and confused.
