If I got rejected from a college and apply to the same college again as a transfer after the first year at another school, is it possible for me to get accepted? Because I'd have only spent a year at a college by that time ,they would still look at high school stats a lot. If I got rejected with those high school stats, how would I get in with the same stats but only college GPA added?.... And can anyone who suceeded in transferring share any experience?..I've heard that people look at transfer students with prejudice and don't really consider them as a member of their class..is this true? because I really dont want to spend a lonely time in college..I really want college years to be the best since I had to sacrifice so much living in a boarding school(not allowed out and things.)
thanks!

It’s fairly easy to get guaranteed admission in California as a transfer. I wouldn’t worry. You’re in California right?

I am not in california and I am not planning on transferring to any schools in california.

Of course it’s possible, but you need to make sure you meet the school’s requirements for transfer admission. As essentially a sophomore transfer, they will still look at your high school stats, but if your college stats are good and your essays can highlight how you have applied yourself and improved since HS, you should be good. If we knew what your current school is and your stats, as well as the school you want to transfer to were, we might be able to give you a better analysis. But you need to check with the desired schools for their transfer requirements so you ensure you have the correct number of units completed, the minimum GPA, and any major-specific courses that are required.

It’s possible, but the acceptance rate for transfers is usually lower. If you feel that your high school stats are the weakest part of your application, then you should apply for your junior year.

HELP PLEASE i have the exact same situation going on with me : (

i go to lipscomb i have a 3.588(arnd that, waiting on final grades) gpa and I’ve taken 17 hours so far (just about to finish first semester,) I was invited personally by the Dean to be a part of her Student’s review committee and I’ve completed TONSSS of extra ciricular from tutoring students in chemistry to teaching students guitar. to leading workshops upon creating media tools to fight racisim and discrimination for emerging youth leaders to registering eligible immigrants to vote and being awarded for it, to volunteering at elementary schools. I also started a club at lipscomb called the “LU jam sessions” informal place where anyone can come and jam or learn to play any instrument that I can teach them, being i can play guitar, harmonica, piano, and just a tiny bit of sitar all self taught : ) I also held a concert in my high school playing my country’s national anthem on guitar for the school upon the annual niternational day.

Ive taken pretty challenging classes during high school, IB diploma program but I messed up my gpa right before i entered that program so my gpa on hs is only a stupid 2.7 and my ACT i took arnd the same time which was a stupid 26, i can retake this and get much better i know it.
I volunteerd at a non profit organization called “kilowatt ours” they educate people on how to save energy and be more eco friendly targetting low income neighbor hoods with their newest initiative.

and i’ve heard that vandy’s transfer acceptance was 56% 08-09 school year. I hope its not much lower this coming year. But someone help me out and tell me what you HONESTLY think…prettty please : )

thanks!

lifegr,
There is no pat answer. It depends on what your trend was in HS, things you might have accomplished when you were a sr or college student that weren’t on your fr application, new SAT scores (if applicable), the transfer rate of the college, as well as your college record (gpa, rigor of courses, LORs, reason for transferring). But remember, you will only have completed one qt/sem of college when you apply and decisions are made, so if you were out and out denied, it will be an uphill battle, and you chances would be much better as a jr transfer.

As far a socially, yes it is tougher as many friendships have been formed during fr year. However, it’s not closed and you will have a group of transfers as well who will be looking for friends at the new school.

If he went for Spring transfer as Sophomore, rising Junior, it would be slightly difficult to form social, but not necessarily unless he pays a campus visit first.

i am a freshman and i have just finished my first quarter. im looking to transfer once im done with freshman year but im afraid that the transfer application period has already expired. does anybody know anything that can help me out? im looking to go to either a csu or uc(california).
