Transfer Applicant and Senior Year 2nd Semester

Hello,
I’m a senior who was accepted to the College of William and Mary under the ED program.
Although I am not 100% sure, I am thinking about transferring to UVA, Georgetown, etc either as a sophomore or a junior. Currently, I am debating whether to withdraw from AP AB Calculus, which I am not doing so well in. The teacher reached out to me and said that although I can continue in the course, I would probably end up with a D-/C+ for the second semester and a C for the year. My other courses this semester are not doing as well as first semester, and I would say it is about an B average, while I applied with a B+ average for William and Mary. If I am considering to transfer, would it be better for me to end with a mediocre grade or withdraw completely? If I were to withdraw, my college counselor and I would explain my extenuating circumstances (family and personal issues) that has been a large factor in my grades this 2nd semester. I would still have completed all my high school credits, but it would be as if I did not take a full year math course my senior year.
Please let me know what you all think and thank you for taking the time to read this thread.

Do what is right for you on a personal level right now. Don’t make this choice based on what you might want to do at a point in time that is a year or two away. If you do decide to transfer at some point in the future, what will matter most then will be your college grades and letters of recommendation.

What were your reasons for applying to Wm & Mary ED? What has changed since then to make you think already that you might want to transfer out in as little as one year? Would it make sense to defer enrollment, take a gap year, and reconsider everything?

I guess I don’t quite understand thinking about transferring from a school before you get there. I think you should just focus on getting ready for W&M and doing your best there. If you don’t like it after a while look at transferring then. Your grades in college and recommendations will be much more important.

William and Mary is a really good school @cocolover80 You should first visit the school or attend it and then think about transferring. Thinking about transferring without even attending the school doesn’t seem right. I believe W&M is one of the top schools and is equivalent to Georgetown and uva. Good luck
