I’m a transfer applicant that’s majoring in African American Studies. I’ve known for a while that some major requirement courses for my major arent provided by the Community College’s around me, but are still listed on Assist.org for the UC’s that I’m applying to.
My question is how would this affect my admission process? will these admission officers know that the major requirement courses arent provided at my college? I’ve completed all my IGETC’s and I’ve taken classes related to my major and will take 1 major requirement class that’s provided at my college.
PS; Recently got admitted to CSULB, which also required the major requirement courses that weren’t offered at my college.
Technically, they are articulated but my school doesn’t have the class available for some reason. Other schools near me don’t offer the required class either. I’m thinking of calling UC admissions for clarification.
@cali2good hey! so I’m currently in the same position as you. The local college near me doesn’t offer the required class during the summer which kinda makes me worried. What was their response?
well, I don’t know about stem majors. I called UC Berkeley cuz that was the school that wanted a certain class that my cc didn’t offer. Since my major is letters&science, they asked me if I had completed my entire IGETC, which I did, and they also asked me to email UC Berkeley admissions to explain the situation and to tell them I had completed the IGETC. It might be different for you, it also might be too late for you to email if you haven’t already. I did this back in January/February.
ahh i see i did some digging and apparently the coding class that i took at my cc technically can substitute the class is not offered at the cc. i emailed them to make sure things are for sure locked in.
