Hi guys! so this is my first year at a CC, and I hope to transfer to Cal Poly SLO after 2 years. I made myself an outline of all the major prep courses I need, but two of them (fertilizers and plant nutrition & Principles of Horticulture and Crop Science) are NOWHERE to be found! I went on assist.org and looked at every CC in California and only one school way far from where I live has one of the courses, and the other school that’s only an hour away used to have the other course, but based on what it says on their website, it is no longer offered! I’m really frustrated with this because I really want to transfer to Cal Poly! How important do you guys think hunting these courses down and taking them will be? Is it worth all this extra energy to search for my classes??
Call admissions. Then you’ll know for sure. They’re very friendly and helpful.

Nothing there?
I agree - Admissions will help mapping your CCs courses to theirs.
If you’re CC doesn’t offer a class that you need for your major, then you don’t need to take that class. It won’t be held against you in the admissions process. A lot of the majors don’t have every lower division class offered at CC.
I still got in with about a third of the required classes missing since they weren’t offered by my CC.
Hi Robelius, can you go into some more detail about the required classes you were missing? I’m looking to transfer to Cal Poly in a few semesters for their food science program, but the only required class I might miss out on is a college physics class that has an articulation at my school but it requires a higher math pre-req than is needed for my major (I have to take up to college algebra, but the physics class that articulates needs a calculus pre-req so this may hold me back a few semesters).
