transfer application & other Inquiries fall 2012?

Hello, college confidential! I Hope you all are enjoying your thanksgiving holiday.

so, I am planning to transfer from my college to a university in the fall of 12'' with an associate degree in liberal arts and science. I realized i should be applying now if i have any chance of getting in. Am i already late? when is the deadline? I have a few school choices on my mind. Among them are Binghamton, Syracuse, St johns, Fordham or possibly Cornell, all within the NY residency. My Gpa stands at a little over 3.0. However, with my performance this semester, i am fairly confident i'll end up wth a 3.2ish. What are my chances at any of the mentioned schools? I did no volunteering, internships, work or even extracurricular activities, and i am afraid this will hinder me. I am, however, working on a project with one of my professors and I am pretty tight with my other professors, which may help me get some recommendations going.

Do i apply to the above school through their main website, suny.edu?

where do i get info to attend their orientations if i do get accepted?

i normally get financial aid from the government at my college, which covers my tuition and provides extra money for free. Do i get the same benefits in a university, provided my family income history meets their requirements?

How does housing work? I much prefer not to dorm because i will be a junior and i rather not surround myself with a bunch of freshies. What other options do i have? I am looking for something inexpensive, around campus and alone. I can probably find a roommate to help pay once i meet some new people.

To add to the above question, will i need to own a car to get to school if my housing appear to be far from school? I am a city boy, i don't have money to buy a car and on top of that, i don't even have a license.

Any clarification of this will definitely ease me. Thank you in advance!!!t

Deadlines. A quick look at the websites of each of these colleges will give you the answers.

Once you are accepted and decide to matriculate at a school, they will give you this information via web portal, email or snail mail.

Federal FA through FAFSA applies for any school you attend, Institutional FA is based on the policies of the individual college and varies from school to school.

Housing varies by school, their websites usually give information about on campus and to a lesser extend off campus housing options. Some schools want first year students to live on campus, but that usually doesn’t apply to transfers. You can ask about housing on the individual college subforums that you’re interested in.

That depends on the school and the availability of public transportation, again, you can ask on the college subforums.

i understand most of my questions were generic. Generally, which month will be considered late when applying for the fall term? The reason i ask is i am currently busy with school. I don’t want to stress doing applications right now. However, i also don’t want to procrastinate. Say, will collegeboard.com help me find out the deadline for each colleges i am applying to? thank you for answering.

also, if it’s not too much to ask, would anyone care to critique where i stand as a applicant? 3.0-3.2 gpa (submitting 3 semesters, 40+ credits in total) with some teacher’s recommendations. Will they consider the spring semester grades as well, or is it just a reference to see how if i am slacking?

Yes, college board will help you with the deadlines. The schools will also have the deadlines on their websites.

thank you ^

Transfer decisions are made before spring semester courses are completed, however some schools ask for a mid-term report. If you are accepted, the school will require your final transcript to be sure you completed your coursework with reasonable grades. If you have not, they can rescind your acceptance, just like with fr admissions.
