If a student applied for admission for this year, was accepted, and decided to attend another school --- but now wants to transfer to Vandy --- does she have to resubmit all the application materials? Or can the original app be reactivated (with supplemental material submitted as needed)?

highly doubt that such "reactivation" exists. best bet would be give them a call (not only to find the answer to that question but they'll probably mark her down on a list)

Hopefully, Brad Weiner can answer this, but in some cases, not Vandy, I heard that people were told to reapply as a freshman, and you would receive credit of courses taken at other schools. Not sure about Vandy. I would call your regional admissions officer who represented you with the first app.

I think the transfer application is typically different from the application for freshman admissions, as at most schools. Also, I think it is customary for most schools to scan the files in from the previous admission cycle to make room for new documents and then to shred paper documents. Perhaps they could use the standardized testing scores to keep you from having to pay for additional score reports, but I suspect everything else would have to be new. Trey is right, you should call the admissions office for accurate advice.

This is what I was told back in the summer of '06 when I started looking at transferring to Vandy:
- You have to submit a new application
- If you've applied previously they WILL pull up your old application to compare, see which areas you've grown in, etc THEREFORE...
- Do not resubmit any of the same material! Send new essays, updated resumes, new teacher recs, etc.

But, this information is relatively old at this point so definitely call and verify this if you're banking on this info being correct.

Thanks for your input, all! She visited last week & is following up on the app thing this week.
