Transfer as a freshman?

Ok, I know this was really stupid of me, but I realize now (when it's far too late) that I may not have applied to enough "sure" and "safety" schools that I can AFFORD (I was thinking only about academics when I applied XP). So, this possibility popped up in my mind: would it be possible to attend a sadly expensive school for only 1 semester (as in from say September when it starts til after exams) and then transfer while a freshman to a different, cheaper school? That is of course assuming I meet the spring term application deadlines and what not.

Thanks!

I don't really see why not. Seems do-able to me.

my girlfriend transfered after her first semester (fall) at the university of rhode island to uconn storrs (spring) just this (her freshman) year. she was rejected from storrs when applying to uconn senior year, but obviously showed something in one semester that the adcom really liked. btw, her grades weren't spectacular at URI anyways....i think a 3.2 or something. so what you're trying to accomplish certainly seems feasible to me.

Ok, so I've concocted a little plan B for myself just now. What if I, upon not being able to attend my top college choices (for costs or rejections, or whatever), apply to a school like Florida Institute of Technology for the Fall semester, then apply to another (perhaps a tad bit more expensive but higher-grade) school for the spring semester (and on)? Does that sound feasible to anyone?

And by the way, is Florida Tech actually any good? I read on their website that they are pretty generous with merit scholarships. Can anyone confirm this? (I've posted my stats on here somewhere already)

Thanks again!

transfer, just try it, yyou never know what happens
