is this common? for someone to transfer to another school then decide they want to go back to their original school.

I wouldn't say it's "common", but it can certainly be done.

I know of at least one longtime CC poster whose son did just that. He ended up happy as could be after he transferred back. Sometimes, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

what is the reason you want to transfer back?

found the major i want to pursue and my current school doesnt even have it. my old school is top 5 in the country in it

better weather

better social scene

have better friends there

my cousin did that. he transferred to columbia from williams, spent the summer between semesters in the city to get acclimated, ended up hating city life and desperately wanted to go to williams. he called williams' admissions office to see if they would take him back, and they didnt even know he left lol

he just moved right back after missing 3 days of classes

the thing is, readmission deadline for the spring semester was november 1. so do you think it would be in my best interest to go back home and take classes at a local college for the spring semester, then go back to my original college during fall 09. it would be a lot cheaper than staying here for the spring semester
