transfer between schools

how easy/hard is it to transfer from say, CAS to CALS or CAS to Engineering?

VERY EASY.....why wat school u trying to transfer too

so long u got a 3.0, ur good to go, u have to wait a year

I might transfer into CALS for AEM.
I have to convince my parents that AEM at Cornell just as good as Stern at NYU so I am trying to find employment data at both schools... I've found one for Stern but can't find one for Cornell.. (to be honest I don't think Cornell business would be as lucrative as Stern but I like Cornell for other reasons).

I would be very cautious about turning down a sure thing like undergraduate Busisness at NYU. My daughter has had the same interest in transferring into AEM as you and we have been told, almost rudely, by Cornell admisions that it is extremely difficult to transfer into AEM. Apparentely it is highly selective in its admission for incoming freshman, approximately 20% admit rate. While there is an application and requirements to meet in order to internally transfer into AEM, there is no guarantee that an application would be approved. I was told, again by Cornell admissions, that quite a few Cornell students were denied an internal transfer into AEM this year. Is this truth or just Cornell's way of limiting transfer's into the major? I really don't know, but it is disconcerting to my daughter and certainly impacts whether she attends Cornell or not.

y17k, sorry for going slightly off topic, but why would you want to transfer out of Stern? If I remember correctly, you are an intel so you probably didn't receive scholarships from Stern, but why would you want to go to Cornell, another stingy school for intels, when you want to do business? I have to decide between a couple of colleges among which NYU Stern and Cornell CAS Economics (I didn't like the fact that AEM is within CALS, so I applied to CAS...for some inexplicable reason I am biased against agriculture schools). I would love to hear your reasons for wanting both to leave Stern and to get into Cornell.

I am not sure if business is my forte (hence I will probably stay in CAS for one more year, and then if I decide to do business I will transfer to CALS). I was initially turned off by the "agriculture" part of CALS as well lol.

i think CAS ECON is as good as AEM and anything else.

CAS to Engineering is very easy. I just had a meeting with Engineering advising last week to talk about officially changing over to the engineering school.

My GPA was good for the first semeter, and I've been keeping up to date on all the engineering classes, so they told me to keep in touch, fill out a little blue form in the fall, and I could affiliate with the Engineering school at the same time engineers declair their majors. I was even more amazed that he mentioned that if I decided during the fall semester that for some reason I wanted to go back to CAS, I just have to send them a letter to transfer my file back. I couldn't believe how flexible they were.

Basically, I get to bypass the Internal Transfer Division. ITD is ok, but it's just more a hassle, becuase you have to apply and wait to see if the other college will accept you (but something like 95% of the time they do)

I think it's a lot easier to transfer from CAS to Eng. than it is to transfer from Eng. to CAS.

that is not true, CAS is very easy to transfer into

Hey bbal87,
I know this may be off topic, but do you know if the econ classes in CAS are super difficult (like Cornell's science/engineering)?

um...i have a bunch of friends who are econ majors, and none are having problems, i don't think econ compares to cornell science/engineering in terms of difficulty, not even close

Thnx, you always come through with answers and my daughter will like hearing that one.
