transfer chance, ivy

Did a crappy job in high school 2,8 , but im a sophomore in college now. 4.0 at georgia state university, looking to transfer to any ivy. 740 cr 490 math 680 writing 10/12 essay. History major, currently have taken 34 hours, almost all in liberal arts subjects: History, philo, english etc. want to transfer because i dont like the commuter feel of ga state (90 percent are commuters here) and because i think i can be more academically fulfilled at their respective institution. chance me at ivies please.

That 490 in math is going to seriously hurt your chances, can you retake the sat?

Please consider that the ‘Ivies’ are a sports conference. The schools vary in their selectivity, size, academic strengths, etc. If you want to get away from a commuter school and move to somewhere academically more challenging, there are many more schools to choose from than the 8 Ivy league schools.

0% chance

you probably want to look at other schools, a school like emory may accept you but even that seems like a long shot

I would look at some more less competitive schools. You have a stellar GPA, but your SAT scores (which may not be a major factor) are low. Also, the ivies (for Arts and Sciences) have very, very low acceptance rates. Penn is the highest at around 15%, Harvard is ~1%, Yale is around ~3%, Columbia is ~5%, Cornell is ~7%, and Brown is around 10% (I don’t know Dartmouth, and Princeton doesn’t have transfers). Don’t be fooled by the high(er) acceptance rates – kids who go to higher “ranked” schools will be applying to these universities as well.

Try looking at schools like BC, NYU, Rochester, Lehigh, Syracuse, Fordham. It’s a wide range, but I’m sure you would be very competitive there.
