transfer chance plz

Hello
Im freshman who just finished first semester of my college at binghamton. It has always been my dream to goto unc but I got rly bad gpa 3.22 with C in calculus at suny binghamton. Would it ruin my chance of going to unc completely? or if i manage to get two almost perfect gpa for two semesters would it bring up my chance? Do you recommend other school? How should I go from here. Thank you for your consideration

It’s never the end, however I’d apply for junior transfer. Do really well these next three two semesters and show UNC that the first semester is not a true representation of your academic capabilities and that first semester was just part of an adjusting process. Colleges love upward trends and you could easily boost your 3.22- 3.6-3.7 if you get a 3.8-4.0 for these next two semester. I had a very similar GPA to you for first semester and raised it to a 3.8 GPA for second semester followed by a 3.94 GPA by first semester sophomore year and in a matter of two semesters, went from a 3.0-3.6 GPA overall and 3.86 Major GPA.

Get involved on campus too! The more well rounded you are is better. Find your passion and get involved with activities that show you are committed and dedicated, try getting a leadership role in one or two.

Write amazing essays, treat them seriously and work on them months in advance. These essays are your interview, so they’re a big part of the decision.

Hope this helps! I successfully transferred into UNC for junior year from the University of Miami.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to message me. I could recommend other schools, but it would help me more if I knew your major. Public schools comparable to UNC are UMich and UVA.
