Hello
I am currently a student at SUNY binghamton and I got 3.25 this freshman year.
Do you think there would be any chance for me to get in? I am going to take easy class next year and hopefully get 4.0 which will bring my grade up to 3.5 hopefully.
What is the average GPA to get into UNC and if i want to apply to business program, is it a lot harder to get in?

I dunno the average transfer GPA, but I had a 4.0 when I transferred with about 60 hours. I know someone who transferred in with a sub 3.3 also… so I think it’s really about your ability to convince the adcoms that UNC is the proper place for you to continue your academic career. What does UNC offer you specifically that you aren’t able to accomplish at your current school, and what do offer the university in terms of involvement?

Your GPA is just one factor, UNC considers the whole application. What were you involved with your freshman year? They like to see consistent involvement in EC’s I believe, even if you don’t have very many of them, dedication over a longer period looks better than 800 things you’ve done for 1 or 2 weeks…

Try to bring your GPA up though, as higher never hurts… and an upward trend with harder classes can show that you have the hang of the college thing.

I think the business program is pretty competitive, and you HAVE to have the pre-requisites completed before you apply… so make sure you know that what you’re taking is going to transfer in as something that will fulfill a pre-req, otherwise if you end up transferring as a Junior you may not be able to get in due to lacking them.

Calling UNC advising to ask question about that is something I would strongly recommend.

Whoa, this is sorta freaky lol. I’m currently attending SUNY Geneseo as a math major with an overall 3.3 Overall GPA and was hoping to apply to UNC after next year. What part of NY are you from?
