Female, First semester at UW-Whitewater, Special Ed major, looking to transfer to UW-Madison for Fall 2013.
15 credits in health science, math, English, sociology and special education with a 3.89 that I'm certain I will maintain until the semester ends, and I should be able to increase that to a 4.0.
Next semester I am taking 17 credits in math, biology, history, English, and polisci.
I do volunteer service through the university, visiting area nursing homes. I will have one LOR from my English prof and one from a high school teacher.

I didn't get in as a freshmen, and I feel like my freshmen year in HS and my uneven ACT score is what did that. I got a 25, and I call it uneven because my highest section (reading) was a 30 and lowest (math) was a 22.
My ending HS GPA was 3.2, but my junior and senior semesters where all between 3.6 and 3.9, so I display a really nice upward trend.
I took:
AP English Language
AP English Literature
AP Psychology
AP Biology
So as you can see, I'm well rounded in every subject except math.
I was in choir, band, musical, history team and youth group, have been employed at the same restaurant since 2008, and for junior and senior year I did work in the Special Ed department at my high school, some paid and some unpaid.

Would anyone be able to chance me to transfer to UW as a sophomore? And if possible, give me any ideas to make me a stronger candidate? Thanks. :)

Bump? I’ll chance back so long as I’m familiar with the school :)

I would say you have really good chances and since submitting your ACT score is optional I’d encourage you not to submit it, since it’s below their averages.

I applied as a freshmen so they have my ACT on file already. But my final gpa for the first semester was a 3.94.

sorry for the double post but,
My next semester schedule is 17 credits in history, Asian studies, math, physics and English.

I think you have a very good chance of getting in and like the other person said the ACT is low but you are now in college so after a certain amount of credits that should not matter to much anymore! I am transferring or wanting to transfer there as well.

Thanks gatornation, what are your stats? If you don’t mind me asking

Are you in state or oos? By the way if it helps anyone, I’m in state at another UW school

Out of state what are your thoughts? Im from Illinois!

I’d say you have a great shot and I hope you hear back soon

I did not apply yet lol, im still working on the essay! did you already apply?

Sure did! I’m waiting for my university and high school to send transcripts.

Bump!! I’ll chance back if im familiar with your school

I think you have a good chance with your first semester grades. My cousin had similar stats a few years ago when she transfered from UW- Oshkosh to Madison…

Good Luck

Anyone else? I’m going mad over here waiting for my descion. :P

I applied for transfer admissions with a high school gpa of 3.8 and first semester college gpa of 3.76… anyone know my chances of getting it?

also, I applied at the end of November (2012) and they FINALLY changed my admission status to “being reviewed by a counselor” a week ago… how long do I have to wait now?
