Pretty impressive recommendation letters from high school official, and 2 instructors.
Good personal statement essay and Cornell supplement essay, I suppose.

Do I stand a chance?

Don’t know if your SAT score will count…
1710 out of 2400? Err… That will look bad.

Everything else looks fine - the GPA is largely influenced by your minuses that you got with your As and your B grade (I’m assuming 4.0 = A). Good extras.

Reach (medium).
But remember, it’s a crapshoot to Cornell! Write good essays is the only information I can give you!

Yea, I know my SAT is pretty lousy. If I don’t admitted, the SAT is probably the biggest factor. I have been working hard on my essays. Hopefully they can make things better.

Guys, any chance? I applied to transfer to Cornell only.

To be blunt, little to no chance if they get to look at your SAT score. Otherwise, maybe, but I think they’ll do a personal history checkup.

Mid reach, considering you are doing extraordinarily well in Purdue :)

What can I do to increase my chances other than writing great essays?

I’m not too sure as to how the transfer process goes but it doesn’t harm you if you talk to the transfers committee (if cornell has one) and even an advisor in the particular major you are interested in yourself about your concerns. Then work hard on that essay :)

Thank you very much! I deeply appreciate it. Can you help to look on my essay?

Pm it if you think you can trust me. I’ll look it over on my own time sometime.

Just a question, but why do you want to transfer from Purdue with such a great GPA anyways?

By the way are you a “guaranteed” transfer (although it doesn’t seem likely since you posted here)? If you are, then you don’t even need to consider chancing.

What do you mean by guaranteed transfer? I haven’t seen something like that in the Cornell transfer website.
I’m an international student. I want to transfer to Cornell because it provides need blind financial aid to international student. Even though the aid for international student is limited, I’m still applying to try my luck. Getting the aid is definitely going to be release my parents financial aid.

I think that may actually make things easier for you! Your profile seems a lot more reasonable now

Just send my midterm report:

This semester courses
MA261 - Multivariate Calculus - A+
ENGL106 - First Year Composition - A-
CS159 - Programming Application for Engineer - A
ENGR132 - First Year Engineering II - A
ECON251 - Microeconomics - A

Will the midterm help??

Eugene - just to make clear - ADMISSIONS is need-blind for international.

FINANCIAL AID is NOT guaranteed for International applicants and is extremely limited.

Yeah, I understand very much. However, I’m still trying to give it a shot. If I’m admitted, I’m exposed to more scholarship opportunities from my local country. They are very fond of ivy league universities.

ok. glad you have a backup plan!

Thanks a lot! I’m still worrying whether my attributes above will get me into Cornell Mechanical Engineering. SAT is so far the biggest downside.

Too old of a post!
jk - why bump it, though? Decisions come out this week!

I have to wait till April mid for them to send out the mail.
