Transfer Chance?

Hi,

I am a student at BU applying for transfer into Georgetown for junior year. My stats are:

HISTORY/POLITICAL SCIENCE MAJOR
COLLEGE GPA: 3.84 including two 300 level and one 500 level class
HS GPA: 3.68
SAT SCORES: 2060/2400
EXTRACURRICULARS: College Democrats, Undergraduate History Association, BU for Barack Obama, work at Boston history museum, internship w/ Senator John Kerry
ESSAYS/ECs: pretty good

My reasons for transferring are that Georgetown's political science department would offer many more internship opportunities in Washington DC, and their political science department is significantly better than most other colleges.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Looks like you have a great chance. Remember, Georgetown doesn't have Poly Sci - they just call it government.

How much weight do they put on fulfilling undergraduate requirements (in my case, it would be the Georgetown College requirements)? I'm pretty sure I have completed most of them except the Religion requirement, but I'm not sure how some of my classes may transfer.

I’d say you’re definitely very competitive in the process, especially since gtown supposedly looks at college gpa over everything else. i actually had the same question about prerequisites, and when i called they said that they just want you to have taken the freshman requirements at your current school…of course, keep in mind that transferring to as elite a school at georgetown means they’re going to be wayyyy more selective in what credits transfer
