Transfer chance?

WM currently freshman at BU (Boston University) and looking to get out. Got a 3.6gpa first semester and hoping for at least the same this semester. 1300 SATs (700M/600V), 3.4gpa in high school; bunch of ec's/sports in high school.

Anyone know my chances of getting into Liberal Arts for next Fall (2010)? Thanks alot.

Why do you want to transfer from BU? Is there something wrong with it? I think your chances are good. 3.6 is a good GPA I think.

Just not liking it – really want a smaller school with a typical campus rather than city life. I remember liking the surroundings on a tour of Villanova last year and have been thinking about it for transferring.

For last 2 years transfers :
2008 Applicants-787 Admitted-249 Enrolled-138 (95% retention rate)
2009 Applicants-708 Admitted-291 Enrolled-165 (94% retention rate)

Transfer applications chances are tough assess , as the school will only look to enroll to fill the void of students that transfer out.The majority but not all transfers are incoming soph’s.
Compared to 2009 enrolled freshman statistics(SAT avg 1290,) , you have adequate SAT and weaker GPA, 83% of enrolled freshman had GPA above 3.50.
You are competing against a different applicant pool and some speculation is that transfers tend to be slightly less competitive.Applying to transfer into A&S is in your favor ; Business, Engineering and Nursing are tougher for varying reasons.
Assuming the 2008 freshman retention rate ( 94%) , that would leave about 90 spots for soph transfers.

HS and college Transcript and essay will also have an impact.

I would guess that you have a good chance , best of luck and I hope you find a better fit for you than your BU experience.
PM me if you have any other questions.

hi I am also applying to Nova for transfer, how much of impact does the HS GPA and essay play because my college GPA is very very low and that is because I did not know I didn’t like engineering so much. My reason for transfer I think is pretty good reason and my high school GPA was pretty good.

yeah i also am applying too, can anyone shed some light on what you need?
