Transfer Chances at Vanderbilt

<p>Hey, I'm a freshman at Tufts, and I'm thinking about transferring to Vanderbilt for computer science. Can anyone give me a general idea of how good a chance I have?</p>

<p>My GPA after this semester will most likely be between 3.6 and 3.7 (for general purposes, lets say it's a 3.63).</p>

<p>My courses so far have been:
1st Semester:
Calc based Physics & Lab - B+
Comp Sci Data Structures - A-
Microelectronics & Beyond (half credit) - A+
Computers & Engineering (half credit) - A
Calc 1 - B (Ack, I know)
GPA for sem: 3.5</p>

<p>2nd Semester:
Psych 1
Calc 2
Comp Sci, Robotics
Intro to Video Game Development
Modern Arabic Lit</p>

<p>ECs: Boxing Club, Sketch Comedy Group, 24 Hour Theatre, Bodybuilding in my spare time (don't know how much it counts, but eh). Should get an intership/job in computer science this summer and I planning on doing rugby this fall.</p>

<p>High School Academic Stats:
670V, 700M, 690W
Math IIC 720
Chem 640
Rank 10/330, 4.2W, 3.92UW,
took 5 APs</p>

<p>High School ECs (off the top of my head):
3 sport varisty athlete (all conference in two)
President of NHS
various comedy skits/plays during school
Talent show Backstage crew soph year
Talent Show MC senior year
Weight Room Assistant
Peer Tutor
Various Academic awards
Summer Job</p>

<p>Some other things to consider:
-I'm from Maine, and Vanderbilt only has 4.3% of it's student body from new england. Does it help?
-I know I can get GLOWING reviews from two of my professors.
-I'm really low income. (good? bad?)</p>

<p>Any advice?</p>

<p>Thanks</p>

<p>Just curious why you are thinking of transferring from Tufts to Vanderbilt for Computer Science. My son was accepted to both schools, majoring in CS. What's your take on CS at both schools?</p>

<p>"I know I can get GLOWING reviews from two of my professors"</p>

<p>that's bold.</p>

<p>hey i go to nyu and i just got accepted to vandy with a 3.6 and trust me my hs performance was not that impressive. i think you have a good chance... show a LOT of interest</p>

<p>According to Collegeboard,</p>

<p>For Transfers:</p>

<p>379 Applied, and 94 Admitted (around ~ 25% rate)</p>
