Transfer Chances for UCLA/UCSD/UCI

Hey, I'm planning to apply for transfer this November for the Fall 09 semester to UCLA, UCSD, and UCI. I was wondering if someone could help out with my transfer chances.

Community College: Pasadena City College
GPA: 3.7
Units completed by Spring 09: 61
Major -
UCLA: Business Economics (all pre-reqs will be completed by Spring 09)
UCSD: Economics (missing 1 pre-req)
UCI: Business Economics (some pre-reqs missing)
Extracurricular: Some volunteer work and job experience
IGETC: Will be completed by Spring 09

I'm also taking advantage of TAP (Transfer Alliance Program), and should have completed all its required units by either Fall 08 or Spring 09.

Thanks so much in advance!

if you finish tap, you're in at all.

jw, how hard was TAP? and advice to future TAP hopefuls

Not too sure about other CCs, but at Pasadena City, it really depends on the course and/or professor. I took an Econ course in which I needed to write a 15 page research paper, but I also took an English course where I just read a short novel and participated in a discussion at the end of the semester.

I've taken 3 TAP courses, and so far, the work was very doable, as the assignments were given at the beginning of the semester and were usually due at or maybe 1 to 2 weeks before the semester was over (which is about 14-15 weeks time).

cool, thanks for the info presk87. good luck into your schools. with that 3.7 and TAP, I'm sure you'll get in!

Just wondering, does UCLA ever accept people for biz econ who are missing one prereq, even if they have a 4.0?

jk_91, i wouldnt know the answer to this, but im sure they would have some exception? the odds are with you, rather than against you. if you could, it would be best to finish it tho

jk_91: No.

UCSD--safety
UCI--99% in
UCLA--Reach

My friend 4.0 student who got rejected by Biz Econ@ UCLA because missing calculus II. However, he got full scholarship@ UCSB where he attended.

Wait, what exactly is TAP?
Does taking TAP help your chances of getting into UCLA?

TAP stands for Transfer Alliance Program. It is the honors program for prospective UCLA transfer students. Basically it's supposed to give students who finish TAP (usually around 16 units of honors courses) "priority consideration" during the admissions process. The big perk about TAP though is that it allows applicants to apply a secondary, or alternate major, in case you're not accepted into your first choice major.

TAP isn't that big of a boost for business majors, but you're admission rate is fine, regardless of TAP anyways.

UCLA and Berkeley= match

UCSD and the rest=safety
