Transfer Chances to the following schools?

A little background about myself

Major: Computer Engineering

GPA: 3.75
Note: My last 52 credit hours have been a 4.0. I have 12 more credit hours from my first institution, my GPA in those classes was a 1.61. However, that was with a much easier courseload and with a completely different, far easier major (Aviation Management). Had a lot of personal/family issues which really affected my GPA.

High School Academics: Not so good, my UW GPA was in the range of 2.5-3.0. SAT was 1100, without the writing.

Current College: Broward College, formerly Florida Institute of Technology.

ECs: Since coming to Broward College, I’ve had to care for my siblings, so my ECs are pretty bare for my time here. I am part of the Technology Club and Engineering Club, but that’s all.

ECs at my Florida Tech: Caribbean students organization, Aviation Club, Women of Aviation Club, Surf Club

ECs in High School: Four years of NJROTC, volunteer work at a local wildlife sanctuary, worked at Burger King.

Letters of Recommendation: I believe I can get outstanding letters of recommendation, I have had a very close relationship with most of my professors.

Most recent courseload:
Calculus II (A)
Physics With Calculus I (A)
Physics with Calculus Lab (A)
Psychology (A)

State: Florida
EFC: Extremely Low (Sub-5000)

Universities I’m interested in:
Southern California
Lehigh
University of Miami
Northeastern
University of Florida
Rollins College
Southern Methodist University

I hate to bump threads, but bump. Any help?

One last bump, anyone? Would like to know if I’m reaching or not with my schools of choice.

Not helpful, but I’m right there with you. Horrible gpa up front but I have killed it since then. I also took a 4 year break in between my bad gpa and recent, much better gpa. Will be subscribing to this, hope you hear something!

Hey let me know how you do! I’m applying now to USC, Northeastern, Lehigh and potentially UF

At the risk of pointing out the obvious: It looks like you are doing quite well where you are now. I don’t see much harm in applying to other schools, but I think that you should be very sure that it is worth it before you actually decide to transfer.

@DadTwoGirls Thanks for the advice! But I pretty much have to transfer at this point, I’m at the end of what I can do at community college, so I’ll have to transfer to get my AA. I’d love to stay where I’m at now but I’m at the end of what I can do here at CC.

@redngoldhopeful I forgot to tag you in my last post.

“I pretty much have to transfer at this point”

Then definitely include some in-state publics (UF is a good school), keep your budget in mind, and run the NPCs.

It looks to me that you have picked up your academics quite a bit at Broward, and should do well. Good luck!

@Anco17 will do, my gpa for my first college go around was a 2.02 or something low like that in about 18 units. I then took 5 years off. My last thirty units are a 3.76 over the last year. I’m applying to USC, USD, CU Boulder, and Vandy potentially. Hoping my new gpa along with an EC of having my own business is enough to over look that old stuff from 7 years ago now. USC is choice number one so we will see
