Transfer Chances

I am presently a rising sophomore at the University of Virginia as an aerospace engineering major. I am looking to apply to transfer to a UC school (specifically UCLA) for the 2014-2015 school year due to the high cost of out of state tuition at UVA (I am a resident of California and will receive in state tuition there). My GPA for my first two semesters at UVA was a 3.74, and when I applied to UCLA out of high school I was placed on the wait-list.

If I keep up my GPA and involve myself in the engineering clubs at UVA, would I have a decent chance of being accepted as a transfer student? (I realize the info I have presented is mildly unspecific, but I am just seeking a general idea of whether or not I am the type of student UCLA would consider as a transfer)

Try to get a 3.8 and above. Extracurriculars help but not by much. Here IMO is the list of important items to focus on from highest to lowest

Prerequisite completion

GPA (3.8+ is good, 3.7 okay)

Personal Statement

Employment and Extracurriculars

Since UVA does not have a direct transfer agreement with UCLA, I’d recommend you to complete the calculus series(+differential/linear algebra), general chemistry, C++ programming, and the calculus based physics series since these classes are essentially universal everywhere you go.

Yes you are considered as a transfer and they do not care about high school.
