Transfer Chances?

I am currently a sophomore at the University of Miami, in the School of Business. Prior to UM, I went to the University of Maryland for one semester. I'm just completing my second semester and absolutely love it, but I'm weighing the cost factor and I could be getting a full-ride to any Florida school because of Bright Futures. Also, my life is just developing and I feel that if I went to Florida, I would most likely adapt faster than I did at Miami, because the student body seems more diverse in terms of socioeconomic status and quality of students.

Current School: University of Miami
Current GPA (UM): 3.74
Combined Transfer GPA: 3.37
Major: International Finance and Marketing, Real Estate
College ECs: Volunteer at the Miami Children's Hospital for 3 hours each week, involved heavily with Jewish organizations, Community Service Eboard member for a Cancer Awareness club on campus, involved heavily with my dormitory (on the board as a Floor Rep.), quite a few other clubs.
HS GPA: 3.75 UW/ 4.2 W (Top 15%)
SAT/ACT: 1280/1910/28
HS Activities: Key Club, Advance Choir, Jewish Forum, other clubs, lots of community involvement and outside ec's.

Grades for Fall 2008:
A, A, A, A-/B+, A/A-/B+ (3.72-3.94); that would bring my combined transfer GPA to 3.5+ and UM GPA over a 3.8.

As you can see, my Maryland grades were a fluke, because I've managed to drastically improve from a 3.0 -> 3.74 and now I'll have a (3.72-3.94) for the semester. I just hope Florida can see this too.

Well, as a transfer student, the admissions committee won't look at your High school GPA.
They will compute their own GPA. Your GPA seems fine.
When are you thinking about applying?

I am thinking of applying for Fall 2009. Is it hard to get in as a direct admit to Warrington as a transfer?

I'm thinking of applying for Fall 2009. I don't really can't answer your question.

There were many discussions before about transferring into Warrington.

Warrington only admits transfer students from the Florida Community College system...looks like your **** out of luck here =/

danny is right: The transfer application is quite different from the first year app. Your GPA is the single most important thing. What you could do (which is risky) is apply to something like CLAS and ask for a transfer at some point. My friend did that with engineering (was admitted as a statistics major).

Gthopeful,
so you're saying that getting into CLAS is easier than any other colleges?
I heard they have a minimum of 3.5 GPA to be admitted.

Where can you find the prerequisites for your major and the minimum GPA that your college is asking for in the UF website?

An admissions officer also told me I you need a 3.5 minimum I hope that isn't the lowest transfer gpa they select I hope when she told me that she meant if you fit above that range your considered a competitive applicant with a chance for admission, IDK im psyching myself out. Im applying to CLAS as a transfer for summer A btw.

I feel that it depends on a lot, instate v out of state, school reputation, extracurriculars...the holistic approach.

That's my guess, yes. I'm not exactly sure how many colleges there are on campus, but of engineering, business and CLAS I would say CLAS is the easiest.
