I'd like some guidance as to my chances for getting into a few schools.
In high school I got a 2.9 unweighted GPA but 3.5 weighted and graduated barely in top 10% of my class. I never took the SAT, and took 2 years after high school to work. I then applied to a tier 2 state university and got in.
My GPA after 1 year is 4.0 and I have a decent summer internship related to my major. I took the SAT in Spring and got a 2180.

Summary of Stats:
High School: 2.9 GPA (3.5 weighted)
College: 4.0 GPA (32 credits)
SAT: 2180 (taken in college)
ECs: 3 clubs & internship
Letters of Recommendation: 0. I've only taken very large classes so far but next semester I have two classes with less than 30 students.

My top choices of schools to transfer would be NYU (stern), University of Michigan Ann Arbor and UVA. I will also be applying to some safety schools. I'd like to know what my chances are at those 3 schools. I'll be applying as a junior for Fall 2011.

You show a fantastic positive academic trend. Congratulations to you, and I’m sure that will be looked upon favorably.

It looks like you’ll be applying for the business schools? Those I don’t know much about.

However, I can tell you that if you keep up your GPA you’ll be a pretty competitive applicant. Try and secure those recommendations as well, I bet it’ll be easier getting hold of a teacher this coming year.

Anyone else have some input?

Thanks for the comment. From what I’ve been reading, the business school at NYU is very difficult to transfer into, while the business school at UM is moderately difficult and UVA is less difficult.
Right now I’m mostly concerned about course rigor and recommendation letters. My courses so far have all been fairly basic ones that I took in High School (English, algebra, micro/macro econ, american history). The courses have been very easy and I would of liked to take more difficult classes but it isn’t an option for me because of required course pre-requisites.

it’s very hard to transfer into stern and if you’re looking at the business schools at either uva or umich also, you really need to have some safeties lined up. awesome job getting that gpa up! it shows a lot of hard work and maturity. if you can keep it up, you’ll be in the running, but again, safeties are important.

Thanks, I do have 5 safety schools that I know I have a good chance of getting into. Unfortunately I would only be in a slightly better position than at my current university when looking for jobs/internships in the future.
