transfer course selection

Anyone know how hard it is to pick up classes that you need if you are accepted as late as May-June as a transfer?

I received a delayed decision letter last week--I had 1 year and 1 semester at JMU and currently am at Montgomery College. I applied to UMD from JMU during the fall semester to enter UMD in the spring, but they denied my transfer. I have a 2.86 from JMU before leaving. I DID get accepted to UMDCP as a FRESHMAN FALL SEMESTER in 2006 right out of high school. Go figure!!! Guess I am being punished now for not choosing UMD in the first place. HA!

I figured it would be easier to get into UMD if I enrolled in a MD community college. Not that easy, it seems. I will have an AA at MC by the end of this semester, but they still want to see grades before admission to UMD. I have straight As so far, so it really is hard to wait it out. I wonder what classes will be available by the time they make a decision in the end of May or June? I thought I'd be a shoe in with the MC credits, but apparently not.
Any suggestions on ways to get a decision sooner? Should I contact the transfer admissions person at MC or UMD?
Thanks for any help from anyone out there! It is such a bummer...

I have stopped trying to figure out how Maryland makes their admission decisions. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. They did tell us when we attended the admission info session that they look for 3.0 for transfers. So if you have straight A's now, you probably will get accepted. I wouldn't worry too much about course selections in June. I would be more concerned about being able to get into one of the earlier orientation sessions in June after you are accepted. Every college/school at Maryland has its own dates for orientation. My S's school has the first one in May and the second one in June. He had to take the second one because he cannot attend the first one. He is trying to go as early as possible so he can get the best course selection too. But there are 6 more orientation dates for his school in July and August. You might want to check at out the dates for your college/school so you are prepared to register for orientation as soon as you are accepted.

Thanks for the heads up! I appreciate it!
