Transfer credit from a Community college to UC

I'm in high school and I have been getting a lot of mixed messages. I plan on becoming a biology major and I just want to know if it is POSSIBLE to receive credit for a major prereq or a major class when I go to a UC if I take it at a community college. e.g. If I take the prereq class Introductory to Molecular Biology at a community college while in high school, do I get credit for it so I don't have to take it again at a UC. I know it depends on the university itself, but is it completely out of the question for high school students taking prereqs and major classes at a CC and receive credit for it and get it out of the way when they go to a university?

as long as the class you took at CC matches up to the class at the UC, then yes, you do receive credit and your prereq will be waived. you’ll receive units on it and your grade won’t transfer. but if you plan on going to grad schools, grad schools will look at the grade.

So it isnt completely out of the question for high school students wanting to transfer prereq credit or major class credit to the university they go to. Because everyone at my high school is saying even if the class was transferable, I cannot transfer the creds because I am only a concurrent student at the CC, not a full time student.

if u took the class then u took the class.

go to assist.org. put in the ccc you go to, and any uc’s u plan on going to.

that will show you all the equivalent classes for those schools

My counselor told me that you can only transfer credits for prereqs and major classes only if you are a full time student at the CC. She says it doesn’t apply to concurrent students like myself who still go to hs.

that’s bs.

she just wants you to spend more time at ccc for $$$

i know someone who took community college classes in high school concurrently and used them to transfer. If you don’t believe us contact an admission officer at one of the UC campuses.

that’s not true; i took 4 cc classes when i was in HS and everything counts
