Transfer Decision and Deadline to Accept Offers

Got some general questions about transferring from CC to University. Wondering if anyone knows usually how long it takes for the Universities to decide if they are going to admit a transfer students? I understand that different schools might have different application deadlines, and some might send out acceptance earlier than other schools since they have an earlier application deadline, but how much time does one have in deciding to accept the University offers as I might be waiting for the reply from my dream college.

Also, will I have better chance if I send out my application early during the application period. And specifically does anyone know around what time will the following schools sent out the transfer application decisions?

California: UCI/UCD/UCSD/SJSU/SDSU
Washington: UW Seattle/WSU/Seattle U/WWU
Oregon: U of Oregon/Oregon State U
Arizona: Arizona State U
Others: U of Wisconsin, Madison, U of Minnesota TC, U of Virginia, Ohio State U, U of Texas Austin, UMass Amherst, UIUC, Purdue U, Indiana U of Bloomington

Thanks in advance!

Are they all affordable on their net price calculators? Out of state public universities are unlikely to give much or any financial aid.

confirm no financial aid needed

UC’s usually let transfer applicants know decision results by May and you have until June 1 to SIR. Cal states notify by April for a May 1 deadline.

Anyone know UW Seattle’s decision results date? If it comes after May 1st and if some other schools(say CSUs) accept me and need a confirmation before May 1st, am I running a risk that I don’t get in UW and misses some other school’s reply deadline??

I am so confused…

SDSU/SJSU have May 1 SIR deadlines, but some Cal states have a June 1 deadlines. If you accept a school on the May 1 deadline and change your mind, then you can withdraw your SIR but you will lose your enrollment deposit.

@Gumbymom thanks for your information. However, I saw some other forum that people said ethically one should not confirm and then later withdraw their acceptance from schools. But if one has no choice while waiting for the dream school’s reply, it need to be done, right?

Ethically you cannot SIR to 2 schools at the same time. SIRing to a school with a May 1 deadline and then withdrawing and SIRing to another with a June 1 deadline is fine. As long as you withdraw from one school before enrolling in another…

@Gumbymom you are talking about schools using the same system, right? like UCs & CSUs?

If for different states say CA and WA, I still need to withdraw the UC/CSU previous SIR first before accepting say UW(which the transfer decision only comes out May/June)?

Ethically it does not matter in-state or OOS. Withdraw from one school before accepting another regardless of location.

thanks!

Does anyone know if I can SIR to a CSU by the deadline, then change my mind and SIR to a UC by their deadline? Does a SIR to a CSU automatically withdraw your interest in a UC? Wondering if CSUs and UCs share the same system. Is their a link you can share that officially states you can SIR to a CSU and then withdraw and SIR to a UC?

@savetherhinos: You can SIR to the CSU and if you change your mind, withdraw and forfeit your enrollment deposit and SIR to the UC. You should consider contacting the CSU admissions office and ask for an extension stating you are waiting to hear about another school. Perhaps they will extend the May 1 deadline. No harm in asking.
