Ok, where do I begin?
Well, I am based in central Texas, have been out of school for going on 2 years, and am currently working full time. I have 49 completed course hours under my belt with a gpa of 3.19. I currently have 3 schools on my resume:
NWV community college (22 hrs, dual credit in HS)
UT-San Antonio (24 credit hrs)
Dallas Community College online (3 hrs, tried to boost gpa while working part time)
I am really wanting to finish up my bachelor’s asap so I applied for, and was accepted into, 4 universities for this coming fall semester:
St. Edwards University (graphic design)
University of Texas Dallas (emerging media and communication)
Texas Tech University (communication design)
University of North Texas (communication design / RTF)
I am having a hard time deciding between my options.
Ideally I would like to be in the Austin area, but am experiencing a bit of sticker shock from St. Eds and would love to not be completely killed by student debt. I missed the application deadline for UT-Austin, but I have an app ready to be submitted for the spring '17 semester (BS in textiles and apparel) . The thing that worries me about this is I would be depending on an acceptance (after looking into average transfer stats, I’m not feeling so confident), and passing up on other great universities as well as being able to get right into my graphic design studies.
I am also not completely set on my major or career path; I am highly interested in graphic design, but really any new media/communication major interests me.
I am receiving very little financial aid, but the 3 public Unis are all around the same price, while St. Ed’s is about double the cost.
There are so many pros and cons for each school that I could attend this fall, so I am completely undecided and am looking for any thoughts and/or opinions on what to do!
thanks in advance!
