transfer decisions?

I hope all of you get in.
My GPA is about a 3.9 from a N.C. Community College with abundance of college credits and tested out credits (too many).
All General Education requirements are met, and many additonal credits of high magnitude. <<<Carolina likes this
12 lower-level credits in my major and all four are an "A".
Solid EC's.

yes, carolina is my #1
I have a 3.88 from a maryland CC. 37credits, all gen ed met except I'm not advanced at a foreign language and that is a BIG thing for them.

Full time job- go to school P/T and support my sister

i have a 3.92 from College of Charleston applying as a junior with 43 credit hours. Lots of ECs, including lots of mission work and community outreach, but also i have an expunged Minor in Posession of Alcohol. Does anyone know how much this hurts?

I think you'll be perfectly find. Remember the average gpa of those accepted is around 3.35 so your well above that. Also being a Junior transfer your chances increase significantly and there is less weight put on your sat scores. You said your charge was expunged plus you have plenty of other positives that would offset that. Good luck and let us know the result. I have a 3.95 from VT but I'm a sophomore transfer so we'll see. Only a little more than a week until we find out!!

anyone think decsisions will come out the end of this week?

wow that article was really helpful and informative. based on that, it looks like i'm right on the bubble. i'm a freshman right now and i have a 4.0 gpa at a 3rd tier school in texas. i also have an SAT of 1260 (1920). i guess we'll see how it goes but either way i'll be happy that i took a chance and applied. good luck guys.

unccharlotte, not exactly sure what statistics you are using to so confidently declare you are in the top 5% of transfer applicants....you may have a 3.9 GPA but it is from a community college

samuial, I doubt it---but if they did and one got in, it would be a nice Easter present!

mjmurphy, are you the same person that posted the following (if so, you have lost all credibility and DESERVE no reply from me):
According to mjmurphy's post: According to a recent article in the Carolina Alumni Review magazine, there were only 7 sophomore transfer students admitted out of around 850 last year, which is less than 1% acceptance rate. The other 1200 students that were admitted were either junior or senior transfers, and the acceptance rate for juniors or seniors was above 60%. Not looking good for sophomore transfers...
You said that the sophmore transfer rate is less than 1%. <<<<Laughing out loud. Like a bad magician, you are pulling random numbers out of a deck (a deck does not have numbers as low as that ones you mentioned). If you are going to guess, atleast say something like 25% (and you will get slight credibility, rather than none). As far as my community college education is concerned, my average class has had a student-to-professor ratio of less than ten. In fact, many of my "community college" professors have also taught at Chapel Hill. I am roughly in the top 5%, for example, because I know about 15 other N.C. community college students applying to Chapel Hill, and I have the best stats (they all should get in, though).

I hope that graduate schools do not frown upon students with High GPA's and graduated from the likes of Carolina. <<<Laughing out loud, once again.

cellardoor7, as well as others at CC, are you looking to go to law school?

"I am roughly in the top 5%, for example, because I know about 15 other N.C. community college students applying to Chapel Hill"

I am glad you have compared your stats to 15 other CC students applying, but seeing as there were over 190 transfer students enrolled from CC at UNC last year, thats a very poor sampling frame. Also not sure what is meant by your student to faculty ratio statement, I attend a first tier university where our student to faculty ratio is around 9...

However, the 15 people I speak of, and I was very vague, are "all" outstanding students that are going to get accepted; they are top community college applicants from N.C. Many that I am mentioning are the creme of the crop. I am not even considering other community college students that are applying with worse stats.

"I attend a first tier university where our student to faculty ratio is around 9..."
It is good to hear that you attend a first tier school, because in about two weeks, I will be accepted to arguably one of the top thirty schools in the country. Is your current school better than Carolina? I, too, have been accepted to many tier one schools. However, I only would attend a select few of them, and if you are not currently a student at Northwestern, Carolina or WUSTL, then I would not likely accept admission to your current first tier university.

With all this said, good luck on getting in, which I do hope you get in, as well as everyone else at CC.

Laughing out loud: I attend a first tier university where our student to faculty ratio is around 9..."

Laughing out Loud: "As far as my community college education is concerned, my average class has had a student-to-professor ratio of less than ten."

I am currently part of Case Western Reserve University's quantitative analysis program which is top 10 in the country, and will major in finance if I go to UNC.

Everyone is understandably stressed out. I just wish Carolina gave out transfer decisions earlier like other schools. I've researched more about other places i've been accepted to and it's like i'm involuntarily leaning towards attending another school even if i get into Carolina since i've given that school more thought. Ughh. I probably dont make sense at this stage but to not hit the "post quick reply" button after writing all this BS is gonna make me feel like i've wasted 5 minutes of my life. So here i go.

"status application not found"

I just checked my app status like the obsessive kid I am and the status page is down........are they loadin' em up??? ;-) or its just a glitch and im a wierdo

ok...it was "down" because it was being updated...it's pretty sad when I can catch them at the exact moment they are updating my app. feeling pathetic? yes.

my status was updated today , neone elses? mine was also updated earlier last month. Ne ideas?

Please consider the tone of your posts on the unc transfer threads. You begin a few weeks ago basically stating that you are sure you are a shoe in for Carolina. Perhaps you are right and your credentials are terrific. However, the lack of humility is what is most striking about your posts. And for someone who considers unc your 4th choice, it sure does seem you spend a great deal of time posting everything from how tough it is gonna be for others to get in to your philisophical analysis of the admissions committee, both of which are over the top! Please take note; it is rather offensive and certainly not necessary to fill the rest of us up with your bravado! Most of the kids who attend Carolina are bright enough that they need not toot their own horn. For your benefit and the rest of ours, my hope is that your top three schools will say yes. Perhaps at these other schools you can spend your time reminding everyone of how brilliant you are. But out of respect for the rest of us, give it a rest!

Just wanted to bump this thread so that it doesn't fall off first page. Son is home for Easter and said his app. was lasted updated on the 20th also.
