Transfer drop out looking to transfer out again.

Hey guys, so I have a very specific situation. I transferred to Cal Poly a while ago as an Urban Planner and attempted to switch majors to engineering and it fell through, and I dropped out. I had been going through a lot of problems with my family, personally, financially, and I was simply not focusing well enough. I had definitely transferred in at the wrong time in my life although I should have it together now (I'm 23). I have been going to the local community college here in SLO taking all of my engineering pre-reqs in the mean time and have been doing exceptionally well, like just getting A's. But I have an messy transcript from my community college and Cal Poly. I've re-taken the engineering courses I messed up at Cal Poly and my old CC and gotten A's in them now, but I still have a few C's(4-5) from my first CC and Cal Poly.

I only have the calc, physics, and chem series to finish to finish at my current CC so no GE's or anything else, but I'm taking a lot of time to finish them because I work a lot of hours to pay my rent and bills. Also I'm intending to apply as a Mechanical Engineer. My question is, even if I have this messy record, but I've managed to excel in my engineering pre-reqs at my current CC, do I still have a chance into getting accepted at Cal? I'd say my overall GPA from both Cal Poly and my old CC without considering the classes I already made up is like a 2.8, but I have a 4.0 at my current CC.

It’s certainly worth the extra application fee. Check off other UCs for some insurance.

You’ve shown you can turn your grades around. Focus on writing stand-out essays that explain how you overcame your recent hardships.

Good luck!
