I'm hoping to transfer from my current community college in Northern California to one of the schools in the area. For my freshman year I didn't really think straight so I got some B's.

I took some courses over the summer and am now in my second year. My GPA is currently 3.39 but I have to take almost all math and science courses for the rest of my two years because my major is mechanical engineering.

I know have it all planned out so that I can hopefully transfer to schools in the area. Is it required that I take every GE course? The only ones I have left are a life science and One class in Arts and Humanities.

I know I am going to need to work extraordinarily hard to be able to transfer. How important are ecs also? I plan on joining the honors society and engineering school at my club to help my odds and I have played piano the last six years and have a letter of recommendation from my instructor.
