Transfer Experiences/chances

Could anyone could share a little about their transfer experience (good or bad)? I’m considering on applying for transfer this spring, but I’m not sure yet. Also I heard a rumor that being previously waitlisted allows for a better chance for transfer acceptance. Any thoughts?

I transferred there back in the dark ages. It has a significant drop out rate, which is one reason it is relatively easy to transfer into. It should help if you have solid academics and are not premed or to a lesser extent EE. I had a messed up high school record etc., but good subject tests and academic oriented ECs. They probably prefer someone who would be a strong candidate out of high school to someone with a high GPA from a weak school…If you were wait listed anywhere that takes transfers much, and you have good grades in college, then you should have a decent shot at transferring in.

I had a mixed experience at Hopkins. It is extremely intense and competitive, and isn’t exactly user friendly. I wouldn’t say everything is sure to go smoothly once you transfer in. It is an excellent school though, and I developed a lot of skills I wouldn’t have at my original school.
