I recently got accepted to a top private school as an international transfer with financial aid. I've been given ~47k in grants, and some amount as loans and work study. I have an EFC of ~6k as per the college's calculations. When I filed the CSS, my savings account had ~6k (still does), which was simply money transferred by my parents from their account into mine (Now, after lurking around cc for a while, I realize that might not have been the smartest move). Now that I know my EFC would have been (however slightly) lesser, had it not been for the money transfer, is there any point in trying to appeal? My parents earn < 15k annually, and I really don't want to make them pay more if there's any chance I could bring down my EFC.
