Hi, I am an international student in a community college in Texas. This is my first semester, and I’m hoping to transfer to Rice. I was wondering if it’s possible to get in with a 3.9~4.0 GPA + community service/volunteer work + part time job(not that it’s something to brag about)? If the chances are slim to none, then I’d better be realistic and start looking for other universities(any suggestions? )
I realize that Rice is very selective, and it’s a long shot. Therefore any suggestion or advice would be greatly appreciated!
My wife teaches at a community college. A few years ago, she had an excellent student who was accepted as a transfer student at Rice. This student had been enrolled in the honors program at the CC, she had top grades, and she had worked in a research/bio lab at a local university. She is now at medical school.
The moral of the story is that transferring from a CC to Rice is a real possibility . . . though it remains, as you note, a long shot.
Make sure that you have some other transfer options in your quiver!
@MrSamford2014 Thank you, sir! I will try my best and simply hope for the best!
