Transfer from Elite University to University of Michigan Flint/Dearborn with Suspension on Record

I am currently a Junior at the University of Rochester, my GPA is above a 3.0, and I’m about to finish the semester with mostly A’s and a few B’s. I was falsely accused of breaking sexual misconduct and the university found me not responsible for this, but they found me guilty for retaliation because this individual argued I had made them feel suicidal after they sexually harassed me. They are suspending me for a year. I am from Michigan and plan to attend the University of Michigan Flint or Dearborn and then transfer to the Ann Arbor campus around fall. I plan to explain what has occurred to admissions. My GPA is also above their requirements and I hold an IB diploma. Is it realistic to feel as though I will be accepted?

Usually universities accepting transfer students require that they left their previous university “in good standing”, which you are not. But the Flint admissions website doesn’t say that, so perhaps you should apply. The Flint info says that they recognize that students come there with all kinds of previous experiences, so maybe their transfer expectations are less strict.

The good standing is a question on the Common App Transfer College Report.
