I am a freshman at Emory and am extremely impressed by the academics. I currently have an academic scholarship of 35,000. The reason I am thinking about transferring is because I miss my family and friends in the North. I made plenty of friends at Emory but the school tends to be very cliquey and I ended up with a group of long islanders and japs who I really do not care for but by the end of the semester had become my only friends and after about october people seem to stop making new friends. I got a scholarship to fairfield and am wondering if it would be a huge blow to my career if I transfered there? Also does anyone know anyone who transferd from Emory to Georgetown. I wouldn't mind giving up a scholarship to go there. I highly enjoy the classroom part of emory but atlanta fails in comparison to the D.C. N.Y.C and boston cities the I'm used to. I'm currently considering a finance major......or econ any help would be much appreciated thanks!

Well first off I would recommend finishing the first year at Emory before you consider transferring out. It appears that you are suffering from homesickness more than anything which completely makes sense but I feel like you will make more friends next semester if you choose to become active in more clubs at Emory.

As you probably already know Finance is an extremely prestigious based sector. If you are looking into working in the IB field than Emory has a great undergraduate business school but even there isn’t a big target. I would think that going to Fairfield could put you at a major disadvantage in that type of field. Also keep in mind that the big scholarship that you were offered was most likely only available for freshmen applicants to entice their enrollment so I would not expect such for a transfer. Typically transfer do not receive much financial aid expect for at the Top Tier schools that have the endowment.

I think if you are planning on transferring, you should look into schools in major cities that offer your program of study and are on a similar level to what you would be giving up at Emory. You said you would be willing to give up your scholarship for Georgetown, so look more into transfer admissions there and if you would be able to afford full pay.
